Join Us to Experience Sea Kayaking At Its Best!
New for the 2009 kayak season, we will be operating from Croton Point Park, Croton, New York and Tarrytown Lakes in Tarrytown. Hudson River Recreation is the largest guided kayak tour operator in Westchester County. Since 1998, thousands of guests from the novice to the experienced have paddled with us. We provide all the equipment and instruction. Those who have never kayaked before are encouraged to come and try out this growing sport. In fact, many of the people who we take out have never even seen a kayak before!
We are committed to bringing ecological and sustainable alternatives to water recreation on the Hudson River, Tarrytown Lakes, and Long Island Sound. Our tours focus on the history and natural environment of the area. The trips are great for individuals, groups and family outings. We offer corporate and team building tours too. In season we teach group and private lessons for those who want to learn and improve their kayak skills.
Our fleet of boats includes both single and double kayaks. Depending on size, strength and weather, younger paddlers may accompany an adult in a double kayak. Our tours are designed so that even novices find them enjoyable. Our Tarrytown rental location offers new kayakers a chance to try out kayaking on flat water and bring children as young as three years old to experience this fun sport.
Kingsland Point Park boat house is closed for the 2009 season and is undergoing renovation.
The bathhouse renovation project is being funded by a grant from Mrs. Kathryn Davis who is kayak enthusiast. The Davis gift will provide $4 million for renovating the historic bathhouse at Kingsland Point Park and adjacent parkland buffering the park from the new development to be known as Lighthouse Landing. The bathhouse will become a center of activity in the park. Possible ideas include an outdoor café, ecological field station with educational displays, and kayaking with Hudson River Recreation. Construction is scheduled to be completed in late 2009.
Hudson River Recreation will launch a few kayak trips this season at the southern end of the park at Rainbow beach. Call our reservation line (914) 682-5135 for more details. |
